Acrylic sump is leaking??? What do I do???
Question for you guys. I have an acrylic sump that I plan to use. One of the baffles was loose, so I decided to take some weld-on and re-glue it. While I was doing it, I thought I might as well put more weld on in the other joints. Can't hurt, right? Wrong - the sump is leaking now - what should I do???
The area that is leaking is the seam where the side of the sump meets the bottom - its leaking in about three areas. I was going to clamp the parts that are leaking and try again, but after last time, not feeling like that will work too well. My other option is to get some strips of acrylic and fuse them around the outside edge. And then, my least favorite - try to seal the corners with silicone - I don't really think this will work at all. Heres a pic of the sump. I also have a build thread going on right now.... http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1478612

the baffles are probably pushing out on the sides, when you put the solvent on, might have dissolved a weak joint and let the baffles have their way.
I think clamping and resealing sounds like a good plan. if it fails you can alway put a square rod into the corner to seal it.
