Fast Coralline Growth?
How fast can coralline appear? I had to start all over when Ike hit so I bleached all my rocks and sand before restarting. So I'm sure my rocks were like nearly snow white. I just started cycling almost 2 weeks ago and I helped jump start my cycle with Bio-Spira 2 days ago.
I rearranged the rocks a little bit and noticed that the LR way on the top had some small red spots and some pinkish colored spots as well. I'm sure this rock had no coralline algae on it to start with before Ike because it had a slight tan color to it prior to the bleaching. Could this stuff be coralline algae? I tried rubbing it off with my finger because I thought it was cyano at first. It's pretty hard. The only source the coralline could have come from were 3 half dead corals and a koralia 1. Even then none of them had coralline on it. Any ideas? |

Coralline algae spores are pretty tuff and could have survived through the process or came in on the other corals.
