LR Curing ? / Cycle?

Hey. I should know this, but only having set up one tank in the last 5 years or so it's been quite a while.

Is curing the same as cycling LR?

Is it the same as what some call "COOKING" the LR?

The way I understand it after I get new LR in, say from MarineDepotLive or some place.. I should put it in a seperate tank with minimal light... Do 50% water changes for a few months before I attempt to add it to a reef environment?

What do you guys suggest? Am I on the right track?

Where's a great place to get LR?

If it is a new setup I would just cure it in the tank, this cycles the tank.
Cooking is like you said, it help remove any dieing material, and kills off most of the life that may be on the rock( sponges, algae, critters)

hmm i actually need to cook the current rock i have now to kill off any algae before I put it in the new setup then I guess.

Shouldn't be a problem.
