Qt tank lights

Set up my ten for a qt for some corals and was wondering if those spiral floresent light that are 6500k would be ok for a couple weeks. The reason for the qt is these corals were collected this weekend and have some algea and other stuff with them that I want to get control of before adding them to my main tank

What kind of coral is it ? I wouldn't use 6500k bulbs, they are for vegitation. I would remove all the algae I could by hand, then maybe dip the coral to rid of pests.

The compact fluorescent bulbs will be just fine for short term. However, they may increase plant growth. There's a couple great articles on http://www.wetwebmedia.com regarding using those bulbs for even SPS QT tanks.

im gonna go without lights for the first couple days, then use those probably. im also running gfo in a reactor and carbon. that along with heavy water changes should do the trick on the algea i hope.
