To much lighting?
Just wanted to get some thoughts. I have a standard 75 with a custom canopy that I built. The inside of the canopy is lined completely with reflective flashing. I have 2 single ended 400W MH with 20K bulbs. I know 20k's do not foster much growth so I am thinking about putting in 14Ks. Would that be to much lighting for my tank? I have had problems with bleaching before but have found putting new corals under overhangs in my LR for a couple of weeks helps with the problem. LMK what ya think.

800w for 75G? um.. yeah. unless it's really deep. and even then... that's a bit much.

you will be ok with 2 174 MHs on std 75gl which I had before, 2 250w MH at 14k is just perfect on keeping any corals. 2 400w mh is a over kill. It will generate alot of head inside the canopy and 14k will have deeper par then 20ks. I would go with 250k or keep the 20ks if you decide to stick with 400w

I realize 800W's it alot of lighting. I would not have that much other than the fact that I got a heck of a deal on the ballasts and moguls. The heat thing isn't a problem. I have large fans and the temp in my tank stays at about 78. Other than heat and bleaching I haven't read much about having that many watts per gallon. Anybody know other consequences?
