The dc8 has a wattage limit.
check neptunes website for more information, or contact them through their forum.
I would not recommend plugging in more...

Get the dc4HD for your lights/ chiller/ or anything that going to pull major power...

From the owner's manual:

The Direct Connect 8 (DC8) allows the AquaController to directly switch up to 8 120V outlets. Each of the eight outlets in the box can switch 6 Amps at 120 V AC. The total sum of all the current draw of the DC8 must be less than 15 Amps.

6 Amp = 660 Watts
15 Amps = 1650 Watts

am i correct in assuming that a 800 watt heater is a no go, but 2 250watt halides can go on one outlet/port and another 250watt can go on another? i have my electrical built with GFCI boxes with pigtails ( regular plugs on the end) to plug into the DC8. so i can run two of the same item on one port of the DC8. likes fans, heaters, lights.

so all three halides would draw 750 watts?

thanks for the info
steve

Yes, an 800 watt heater would be too much for one outlet on a DC8. You could get a DC4 HD for the heater since it allows 12 Amps per outlet.

Three 250 watt metal halide lights should consume approximately 750 watts and could be placed like you mentioned but I would personally put only one light on each outlet.

You can place as many accessories on one outlet as long as follow the specifications listed in my previous post. Again I would only place one item on its own outlet otherwise you have limited control over it.

thanks mark. clear as bell now.

i ordered 2 of 120v extension sockets. this allows me to easily
( and for less money) split up all my current draw. they do not have watt/amp limitations. only the limit of your GFCI or breaker.

thanks again!
steve
