Question Curent Satellite 30" Fixture, 4 plugs?

i just got a Current Satellite dual lamp fixture. it has 1 daylight pc and 1 lunar pc. it has four plugs coming out of it. from what i've seen from plugging and unplugging is that one plug is for the daylight bulb, one for the lunar bulb, and one for the fan. i can't seem to figure out what the 4th plug is for. does anyone have this fixture and know what the 4 plugs really do? also how would i set this up on 2 timers to switch between the daylight and lunar bulbs? do i plug the 3 prong plugs into the timers or the adapter looking plugs?

thanks,
chris

1 plug is for the daylight bulb, 1 is for the atinic bulb, 1 is for the moon lights and the other is for the fan.

you can buy a dual timer wich will let you have the dawn to dusk effect when set properly.

the moon light is for night time viewing and it can be left on all the time if you wish. i personally have them only come on when the rest of my lights go off. i tried leaving them on 24/7 in my wifes tank and 1 of them burned out pretty quick so since then i keep them on only at night. only problem is there are not enough of them on that fixture and there is actually plenty of room to add more.

if you go on ebay and do a search for moon lights there is a vendor on the naqmed moonlight4less that sells DIY kits with great step by step instructions on how to wire them up. only thing different you would do is go to radio shack and buy some led holders, then drill more holes in the fixture for the LEDs to go into. you need to use a 1/4" bit for the holders and bulbs to fit properly. then instead of using the supplied plug in the kit splice into the fixtures wire for the single LED. there is more then enough voltage coming off of it to support at least 5 LEDs. this is what i did and they look great. if there is any way i can help you out if you decide to do such let me know and i will help in any way i can.

in order to do that you would need either 2 timers or you would need a dual timer. set the day lights to run for 8 hours and then set the attinics to run for 10 hours. so the attinics would come on 1 hour before and turn off 1 hour after the daylight bulbs go off. then after both PC bulbs turn off your moon lights would come on.

so say you want your lights to turn on at 10am you would set the attinics to come on at ten and turn off at 8pm. then set ur daylight bulbs to come on at 11am and turn off at 7pm. your moon lights should be set to come on when all the other lights turn off and then they should turn off whe the attincs come back on.

1 more thing, you could always have your tank lights on for longer if you wish. but i have found that i get more algea growth with the lights on for much longer then 10 hours a day.

wouldn't you need 3 timers to do that? 1 for each type of light (day, act, and moon)?

no, if you buy a dual timer power strip teh you can do all 3 on the same timer. each timer will power something at different times. the 2 timers on a dual timer strip have seperate plugs that have power when the timer switches to on/off.

if you buy the timer it is pretty easy to see what i am talking about. in fact take a look at this website and it will explain abiyt better as to how it works.
