MRC MR-3R Recirculating Protein Skimmer

I have tried searching but came back empty.

Looking for feedback on the MR-3R Recirculating Protein Skimmer made by "My Reef Creations"

I see them listed for upwards of $580, a LFS has one for $450 so I'm a little interested.

Pretty skimmer. The recirculating version should solve the water level issues that some on RC have mentioned.

I have run the older MR-3 (non recir) before in my 150g. It work very very well as long as you don't mind the electricity usage. I feed the dual injector with the iwaki MD70...

I just purchased a used MRC MR-2R here on RC and add a 6" riser. Going to hook it up after the holiday. I can't wait to see how these skimmer performs. I have very high expectations since I am a gig MRC guy when it comes to their equipment. I only hope that my expectations are met because I have a piece of crap skimmer for the past 5-years and I finally pulled the plug on this guy! Needle Wheel seemed like a good option, but VERY expensive compared to a good quality used beckett skimmer IMHO.

So I have my fingers crossed. Any advice on setup, adjustments and/or overall use from those people out there that have these types of skimmer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx.

Tegee-

Can't go wrong; great skimmer. I ran an MR-2 dual injector, with a 12" riser on it for quite a while.

Good skimmer, good price, great customer service. Honestly, I'd say buy it, as long as the electric useage doesn't scare you. If I ever built a LARGE tank (Who am I kidding, when...) I wouldn't hesitate to go MRC.
