Too Many Snails

I finally got a LFS to order in some cerith snails. I can get them for 1$ a piece if I buy all 50, or 2$ a piece for less than 50. I'm wondering if I can put 50 ceriths in my tank and be ok. My total system is around 55g. I may shop them around to other club members, but I wouldn't mind getting them all.

I think that's to many. In a tank that size I would start of with a dozen or so and see how they do. 1$ a piece is a hell of a deal though.

IMO that is way way too many! they will slowly (or not so slowly) die off due to their not being enough food. I would do a maximum of 12-15 of them... Great deal though. See if there's other locals that might like to get some also and split it up.

check piece-of-the-reef on ebay. I paid $58 for 120 snails and 20 crabs including shipping.

I wouldnt add 50 snails to a tank at one time, they'll likely die off as they eat up all the food source. I'd say it's too much.

Well this is like a sandbed debate. I would put all 50 in there without hesitation. They will not all die off at the same time and unless your tank is spotless, I think there would be plenty for them to eat. I am a firm believer in using snails to clean your tank, but it takes a lot of them to make it work right.

I would +2 piece-of-the-reef on ebay. I have ordered many things from them and they are a pleasure to work with and their prices are great!
