That has happened to me quite a few times... I just throw them back in the freezer.. I wouldnt imagine that there is anything wrong with them.

I've left cyclopeez out for 12 hours before and threw it back in the freezer. I used it and everyone is fine. I think you're safe.

I've done that many times before. If it's still cold (or at least cool), I just throw it back in the freezer. If it's actually room temperature, I throw it away. I really couldn't say how long is too long to leave it out, but 4 1/2 hours doesn't sound too excessive to me. I'd probably keep it.

I would personally throw it away -- it isn't worth the risk. Any time a frozen food it left out at temps above 41* for more then 4 hours it is no longer consider safe.

Back when I managed a bar, I had to be certified by the state in food safety.

Ah, but keep in mind, food for fish doesn't have the same scrutiny as food for humans. Personally, I think it'll be fine. I had bought a mysis flat pack from my not-so-LFS a while back and after the 45 minute drive home it had started to thaw, it went right back in the freezer and turned out ok.

Big difference b/t 45 minutes and 4 hours.

It might very well be fine, I am just saying that I personally wouldn't risk it.

I wouldn't risk it either, I have seen mysis that had been out too long and it goes a gross black ( PE). Of course this doesn't happen until a couple days later.

yeah i am health food certified so i see where you are going there... it was still partially frozen... the area near my tank is a nice cool 60 degrees so i think that is what saved me... i will probably throw it out and by new... the rotifiers were only a half pack but the mysis was brand new... such is life

I would throw it away. A study has shown that most frozen fish foods contain viable vibrio bacteria which can be harmful to fish even when frozen continuously. This is why I rinse and thaw mine with tap water and then dump it in ro water before feeding with a turkey baster.
