the pistol shrimp that pair with gobies shouldn't cause any problems

I'm tagging along. Seen some mixed opinions on this one and I'm really interested in having a pistol/goby in my tank as well. Risks i've found so far:
1) May make annoying noises...especially if other pistol shrimp are present. 2) May not pair with your goby if you don't buy them paired already. 3) Can cause issues with other inverts. Check this link out...makes me want one more, not less http://www.milkandcookies.com/link/62380/detail/ Good Luck! Tagging laong for other feedback....I'm likely to give one a go regardless, can always banish him to the fuge. Sound like interesting little buggers. |

I have had one paired with a Yellow Watchman Goby for a while. It clicks very rarely, and I have heard they pair up very easily. Mine did twice, 2nd time when switched tanks. Personally, I think they are a great addition to a reef & very interesting to watch the symbiotic relationship between the pistol and the goby. Mine is a Tiger Pistol with the YWG.

I have a tiger pistol shrimp paired with a yellow watchman goby and I have had NO problems from the two. They are the most interesting thing in the tank. He does dig alot but I could only see that being a problem if your rocks are on the sand and not the bottom of the tank. I have never heard a sound come from mine (I wish I did). Also I have not had a problem with it killing other shrimp, snails, or hemit crabs, it eats whatever I feed my fish.

Bad idea.... awesome pair to watch but there is a high chance of sand all over your tank as well as dead frags when the shrimp pulls the frags into his hole
