Hospital Tank = QT?

I had set up a hospital tank for my sick Potter's Angel. It's a 10G simple tank with a terracotta pot for hiding, an empty filter to move water, and a small heater. I took tank water from the display and then added some copper to treat him for what I thought was a parasite. Well, he died a few days ago in the display (parameters are still stable), and I'm wondering if I can QT in this little tank I set up. It has a very small amount of Coppersafe in there and that's it. If I am able to use it as a QT, does the copper lessen my time in the QT? I was thinking to leave him in there about 2-3 weeks at most. Bad idea? OK?

I'm not trying to treat anyone for ich...I'm wondering if I can use an "unused" hospital tank for a QT tank. I planned on going to get a replacement fish (NOT a Potter's) sometime after Turkey Day. I've read that article before, so perhaps I'm missing the pertinent info?

I would have thought it would be OK to QT a fish in water that had a little copper in it. I could have sworn I've read it on here. Am I wrong?

i wouldnt do it especially since you have corals in ur display the fish could leach some of the copper to the display and kill your coral..

A low dose of copper will not kill any parasites your new fish may have and may assist the parasites in developing a resistant strain as they go through their lifecycles. So I would not use water with a low dose of copper in it. Either up the dose to a therapeutic level and treat your new fish prophylactically or use new water.

Shortcutting qt time to less than 4 weeks symptom free can be a tragic mistake in my experience.
