sorry, it is 48" 55G tank.
The reason I am asking is that I had a little frag, then got a whole mother colony a week later, and frag looks more orange, and mother colony is more pink (was under T5 HO)... |

Agree, once it gets used to the lighting change it will color up.
I have noticed that some PC lighting units are of different intensity in some cases.

I would be placing that Monti in the top third of your tank, and keep a close eye on him.

I have Orange M. cap under a 2X96 PC fixture. The cap is about 8" below the lights and growing well and keeping it's color very well. I originally took it out of my 75, where it's under T5s, and put it in my 46 because it seemed to be starting to have an algae problem. I have a Coral Beauty in the 46 that cleaned it up very nicely over night. I have several pieces of Orange cap so figured I'd leave it in there and see what it does. Never changed color and is still growing.
Montiporas are one of those SPS that seem to do well in moderate lighting. So many people think that SPS HAVE to have MH lighting. I have some of the highest light demanding Acros under T5s and they're growing like crazy and retaining their beautiful colors very well. Montis are definitely an exception to the rule. They do just fine under PCs. |
