Can a high KH (carbonate) level be a part of a green algae outbreak??? I was trying to raise my KH level and the test kit I used had expired . So, needless to say, I put too much buffer in the tank. KH reads about 300 ppm. None of my corals open up now either.

300ppm is a dkh value of about 17, and that's quite high. It would not cause an algae outbreak, but it could shock many corals. What corals are closed up?

Button polyps mostly and some leathers, Some of the mushrooms won't open up as much either. I've been using the phosban reactor and have been changing the media in it on a pretty regular basis and the skimmer is still working fine. I have to empty the cup about every 5 days or so. I'm probably overfeeding. I have one one spot rabbitfish, one kole tang, and one occelaris clownfish in a 75 gal.. I feed them every day. but will cut down the amount and see what that does.
