Coral swells after new metal halide.
So I have a new coral fraz of some maze brain coral.. sits at the bottom of my tank (20 inches from the light) Turn on my 2x 150w halides (second time using them) leave them on for about 2 hours. My coral turned from a normal braze to very bloated with the tenticles out.
I assume the lights caused it but what do I do now? Not ever run them? I don't know... need tons of input.. thanks guys! Here is a before and after pictures.. |

Just looks like a hungry brain.
I feed my tank coral frenzy once a week and then what ever the fish don't eat.

yep, just feeder tentacles. Most of my LPS put on that show nightly, including all my favias and brains.

Funny it goes into feed mode with the lights on. My maze brain only does it at night.

It is just getting used to the increase in light. Just up the time by 30 minutes every few days until you get to 7-8 hours or so. Many corals will appear to "swell" and it is completely normal.
