rock placment

how do you get your rocks to stay where you put them. should the rocks push all the way to the back wall of the tank or is it ok 2 have some room behind the rocks like a little cavern or is that gonna be bad since there might not be much flow?

Most reefkeepers place rock in any fashion that is pleasing to their eye. I like to keep the rocks far enough away from the glass so that it can be cleaned but some people never clean the rear glass and have the rock right against it. I usually start with base rock on the bottom and add true live rock on top. That keeps one from burying expensive LR if you use a DSB. For ledges and such the rock can be glued together. The best method is to use some nylon dowel material and bore holes in the rock. Then glue the dowels and rock in place. Don't overdo it as it is no fun to find you have cemented together a 100 lb boulder if you need to remove the rock at some point.

I like the keeping the rock away from the glass idea.
