How many people have a Mandarin that...

Who has a Mandarin that is eating food other than live. Just wondering because yesterday I got one who eats flake, frozen, and pellets. He also picks at the rocks but I'm glad that I got one who eats more prepared food than my Coral Beauty.

So who else has one on prepared food?

I had one eating frozen food and then he went and got himself wedged under a rock.

My psychadelic mandarine in my frag tank eats mysis, brine, and occasionally some flake foods, though I dont feed him much, the refugium chock full w/ pods does great for him(or her)..

Mine has pods-a-plenty but also will scoop up frozen brine and baby brine but they're live).

Cool. I'm surprised that there are so many people that have mandarins that eat prepared food.

Its not too hard to get them to eat prepared foods, just people don't seem to want to accept the fact that they do. I have trained a few. None would eat pellets, but all ate mysis.

Its like regal angels before they were impossible and now people are keeping them. Same with moorish idols. It can be done.

I don't think it is that people want people to think you can't get a mandarin to eat frozen. What I try to tell people is that it often takes a while, and during that period if you don't have a tank with a decent pod population they will often starve to death before they learn that there is easily accessable frozen food floating around.
