Felt

If you use hobby felt to clean up the water a bit, does it matter if its colored or does it need to be white?

I would have to believe that the colored felt would have some sort of dye in it that may run off into the tank. IMO I would used the white to be safe.

id avoid it myself, white will be better being as it has no dyes, but it will also be a better visual indicator that its dirty and needs to be cleaned or changed

there are a lot of things you can use in this hoby from under the sink but usually added perfumes, flavors, and dyes are to be avoided,

for example there are people on hear that treat water with bleach but it has to be unscented, people use vodka to lower nitrates and phosfates but it has to be unflavored
