stumped at what pump will work
so I am setting up my 300gal and I hit a brick wall on what pump to actually use. I never really had a problem with my current 90gal using a mag7.
I will be using 1 inch return lines so I guess I need a pump with high head pressure? Will any reeflo pump or dolphin pump work with a 1inch return? without losing too much gph? can anyone recommend me any pump that will work well with around 10feet of head pressure that can give off around 3000gph? thanks a bunch!

http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/hlc2.php - head loss calculator.
Eheims seem to be popular for heavy loads. I'm a magdrive user on my 90 as well, haven't used any other pumps so i don't have much advice for you. |

Thanks for the reply melv, I have tried that calc, but it seems to be outdated with the pumps? I cannot find any of the dolphine pumps listed there and there is no reeflow pumps listed in it either.

I would check out panworld/blueline pumps, inexpensive, high out put, low energy, quiet. But, if it were me I'd go Reeflo/sequence all the way. Those things hammer and you can find one for your needs that will have low energy consumption.

energy consumption is not a problem . But I thought the reeflo are only good for closed loop? what about as a sump return? do they do good too?
