feather duster question

So I woke up this mornin and glanced at my tank and notced the water wwas real cloudy like I calcium dosed it. However I didn't. So i kick on all the lights to see what is going on, I then noticed one of my feather dusters shooting out a little cloud of spoo like substance. It was shooting only a small amount but it was doing it like every five seconds. So I uprooted it and quarantined it in a ziploc bag thats floating around the tank now. I had to rush to work so I didn't have time to do anything else with it. Any idea what this is? I acquired two feather dusters on Friday from petco. They were fresh off the truck not even put into the tanks there yet. I had to peel them apart fresh out of the bag. Is this a mating thing? After about ten minutes in the ziploc bag I couldn't even see through it. Do I have a bag full of feather duster semen? Or is this some sort of defense mechanism? Either way I'd rather it poisoned itself rather than my tank. I guess mating dusters would be ok, but not a real big priority for me. Both dusters seem to be in normal healthy form. Feathers are all out even in handling the one it only retractd for a quick second and came back out.
