Live Rock

I've been away from the hobby for a couple years now. I have re-set up my 55 couple months ago and have a pretty good balanced system right now. Problem is my old live rock is no longer live. So I basically have about 80 pounds of base rock. My LFS has some LR for sale at $4.50/lb. but it doesnt seem to look very live, mostly bare. Where can I get affordable LR to seed my existing base rock? I live in N.Cal, Stockton but if there's no good LFS out here, I can order online... where's a good place?

Yeah ebay is cheap but if you are serious about this hobby I would go with the best rock you can find not the cheapest.

I've gotten all my LR from premiumaquatics. Good quality stuff, and a great company to deal with.

If you're looking for a good deal, check out your local club forum. You can usually find somebody breaking down a tank, selling good quality LR for a good price.

Aquarium Arts in Bakersfield. Fully cured rock so you will have a very minimal cycle. I've set up two tanks with this and both cycled within a few days. It's also close enough for you to drive there and avoid the shipping costs. Marty won't sell the rock until it's cured 8-12 weeks (passed through different curing tanks) so you would have to call to check out availability:

you could go with live sand as well it is fairly easy to come by and shipps in bags. Does anyone know how long it takes base rock to become live in an aquarium? It would be my guess that it would be about 3 to 6 months. it harldy seems worth the expense of fresh live rock
