I have two 250 watt Pheonix DE bulbs that I run 6 hours per day, what is the maximum recommended time between bulb replacement?

at 6 hours a day, approx 2 years & do not let anyone tell you different unless you want every last bit of output all the time.

+1 for above. you should be good for a couple years. calfo runs his bulbs until they burn out. if you read over this article you will find that bulbs lose about 25% of their initial output in the first 3 months. if you dont replace them every 3 months you might as well wait 2 years. after 18 months it only drops to 70% and after 2 years i believe it was 66%. this study is only for PAR, not color. you will have some spectrum shift, but not too much, and phoenix already have a nice blue color, so if they turn into more of a true 14k looking bulb instead of a 20k looking bulb, then that is ok with me.
