Aqua C Remora Pro

How would you rate this as a HOB Skimmer?

3 out of ten all 3 points are from the thickness of the materials.

What would you recommend? So far as a HOB goes.

Remora are awful. I owned one. Loud, doesnt work, its junk all the way around IME.

Octopus seem to have decent HOB skimmers. Deltecs seem to be really nice but for the price, No way! Rip off

My favorite HOBs

Deltec MCE600 (look for a used one if the sticker shock is too much)

Cnc 125H ( used only as they are out of buisness)

Warner marine h2

Octo 800s with needlewheel

Bermuda rogue, only one on my list with the pump in the tank.

Deltec MCE 300 handles Bout 50g total but very low wattage

Coming soon
Atb Cone. No doubt this will be king.

I have owned two Remora pros and they were POS. I just bought an Octo bh2000 and am very happy with it. I would be careful about the 800s, as that Sicce pump may be too much pump for that skimmer body IMO.

How long have you had the 2000? Any pics of it in action? What is your tank like? I am torn between this one and the 800.

I have had the bh2000 about 6 weeks. No pics. Tank is an over-stocked, overfed 30 gal. softy tank with a high nutrient load. It is producing about 4 oz. of medium dark skimmate a day for me right now, but I am also dosing vsv, so that may have something to do with it.

I own two other skimmers using the Sicce psk2500 (an Octo Ex 160 and a MSX 160) and am reaching the conclusion that the Sicce is too much pump for a 6" skimmer in that it creates too much turbulence. That's why I think sticking it in that hob skimmer makes no sense.

Good points. FWIW, I would be comfortable with the bh200 on anything up to about 50 gallons, as long as it wasn't an Acropora dominated tank.
