WOW! I am a complete moron!

Ok, I mixed the salt into the water. let it mix. Then i did the water change. After i finished the water change, i realized that i didn't ever check the salinity OR the temp!!!! After years of water changes every single week, i somehow forgot to check anything!Thankfully the salinity was perfect! the temp dropped a few degrees...but its all ok.

has anyone else ever done this?

My famous move is to do a waterchange without un hooking the ATO unit.

I'll pull out like 10 gallons of salt water before I realize I just replaced it with 10 gallons of fresh water. WOOOAAAHH! Makes an easy job into a PITA!

You're not alone.

Dont worry, i have a good idea that 2 1/2 cups of salt mixed in 5 gal will give me 1.025 (reef crystals), so what i do is put that amount in a bucket, pour the water in the bucket, mix with the algae scrapper and pour, i really dont test nor heat the water, IME nothing has happened in 2 years that i've done it...

the thing that I've done is, well not to my tank but a tank at work, was they have a plumbing that you push down on and it starts to release freshwater into the tank, well I was doing it at the end of the night and I got distracted by the supervisor, it got left running all night, killed most everything (3 pj cardinals and yellow tang) in the tank except some damsels, crabs, and snails. I didn't get repremanded but I told the truth that I had left it running.

I snowstormed my nano once with kalkwassar. I set up a half-liter of Kalk mix dripping into a HOB filter. Then decided to turn the filters off so I could target feed my corals.

After 20 minutes of the HOB filling up with pure kalk water, I turned the pumps back on and a snowstorm followed.

Fortunately it didn't snow for long once the water circulated well.....
