Messing with my camera

Hello out there, just wanted to share something with you all...

Well everytime i come home from work i look at my tank (well who doesn't), anyways, i arrive from work at around 5 pm with my sunglasses on, inmediately i look at my tank, it's not really hard to miss since it's an inwall tank facing the doorway, and notice how everything looks nice, good colors on all coral and fish, clean water, etc.

Well after a take them off everything changes, colors look faded, tank looks blue, water looks dirtier, i couldn't believe the diference beetwen the two, so i decided to experiment, i took some pictures with my camera (Sony DSC-H9) using my sunglasses just to show you what i am talking about.

What i did is just put your sunglasses in front of your lens and shoot away

This one is half with sunglasses

the other side

a quick closeup

Well what you guys think of my experiment, i know it's useless info since a lot of you really know how to take nice pictures, but hey i am new at this and wanted to share..

If anyone of you have the same camera as mine, i would like some pointers on how to take better pictures with it, maybe some basic settings like shutter speed, apperture speed, macro, manual, etc. thanks for reading

Sana

Polarised glasses would be best.

I stood on a shoreline in mexico and filmed the reef with a video camera. I ended up puting my polarized sunglasses over the lense and you could clearly see the fish in the water. Take them away and all you see is blue. I'll have to try it with my tank :-)

Thanks for the replies guys, the glasses are a pair of ray-ban polarized sunglasses, or maybe you can try a normal pair as long as it cuts out some light....

I don't think regular glasses would have the same effect.

Here's a link on polarized filters.

Hi DCD, you are right, polarized sunglasses are the way to go, i tested a regular pair and it did not look as it if cutting enough light out....
