need help with id pls
hi my name is jemma and i was wondering if someone could please help id these creatures......we was looking in our marine tank with the lights out and found this thing it is like a slug there is 3 of them that we have seen two about the size of a penny and one tinny one......... we want to no if it is good or bad pls thanks

hello jemma-
They look like Stomatella (sp?) snails. Harmless, good to have little snails that generally only come out at night or after lights out. -avp

oh right thank you ... do they not have shells like normal snails because they didnt look to have a shell..... and do you think they could have come off a coral we have bought ?

you are correct, these little guys are hitch hikers on rocks, corals, etc. As for the shell but, it's there, but flatten out and not big enough to hide the entire body like a land snail. Think of it more like a fat guy trying to hide behind a wash cloth.

lol my partner just investigating abit more and there is loads of them so its really nice to see and am really glad they are good things to have. its amazing the things you see and i know ive said it but its so good to see so much life because we had a bad start with marine ... we had ich, marine velvet and then a struggle with getting our water stable but things seem on the up now with all the life.... our pair of ocearis clowns are now hosting an anenome and been all lovey dovey lol ... weve just got a pair of bangii cardinals with a long spiney sea urchin so hopefully they may be breed and we can give a little back with them on the brink of excition list thank you again jem
