Protein skimmer and wetdry filteration issue

Ok i purchased a wetdry from a local merchant here in tampa. iwill not mention there name but they sold me a 125 gallon for a 90 gallon. the only issue i am having is that any decent protein skimmer i dont think will fit in the sump. i went into the store and they told me that the manager was busy and cant talk to me..i was a bit steamed. they told me i could put a asm g1 or g2, but the intake valve would be so close to the side of the sump...question is one..the intake valve of the protein skimmer shouldnt be close to the side of the sump correct? they were telling the inch between the sump wall and the intake valve was plenty..i disagreed..there telling me since THEY drilled a hole for the external pump they cant return it..everyone else i talk to here in tampa says thats crazy..anybody who is gonna buy a sump with an external pump needs it cut anyways..Do i have a valid reason to bring the wetdry back?

Are you going to want a reef? If so, you don't want a wet/dry anyway.

If you can't fit a G2 in it, then it could be too small fo the tank. What make/model is it?

Many people shoe horn skimmers into their sumps with very little room to play with, An inch between the venturi and baffel shouldn't be that big of a deal. What do you need to cut for your external pump to work?
