sumps & baffle question

I am setting up a 10 gallon tank with a 5 gallon sump, which will serve mainly as a place to hide some equipment. I am going to use a 5 gallon AGA tank for the sump. Inside the tank is a about a foot tall piece of 4" pvc pipe that I drilled a bunch of 3/8" holes into. I then have 4" diameter filter socks that fit right into the PVC pipe. The tank will obviously drain right into the filter sock, then through the PVC to the rest of tank (the pvc will just stand upright in the tank at one end).

Anyway, I was originally going to add a series of baffles, but seeing as how there is so little room in there to begin with, do you think that I can get away without baffles, since I am running skimmerless on this tank? I want zero microbubbles in the display tank, which is why I was originally planning on the baffles. I haven't decided on a refugium yet, but I figure I can always just add a tupperware container, drill holes into that and place it into the middle of the sump to place chaeto in.

Thanks
