moving the mushroom?

Hi, I am just wondering if I can move a few mushrooms from this LR (that is full of mushroom) to some other rocks in my tank? If yes, how? DD |

Just cut the heads off with a razor blade, or you can slice it in half if you want to leave part of the shroom there. They will both grow back. In both cases that is.
Then there are several ways to move to a new rock. rubberband, dental floss, i've heard of tooth pick used, fishing line, netting around the rock. All that stuff will work just don't remove any of it for a couple of weeks until they attach or you will be starting over. If the flow is low just lay it on the rock and it will attach itself in a week or so. I usually put mine on some rubble with a cup around it to deflect flow then I can move them where I want with the rubble attached. |

Just what longdangler said. The difficult part is getting them reattached. Any method that allows them to keep getting light while being held securely (but not too tightly) against a rock, frag plug, etc. will do. My new method for removing mushrooms sounds a little brutal, but actually seems to be less stressful on them. I take a pair of foreceps, grab them at the base and just rip them off the rock. They seem to actually re-attach much faster than when I cut them off. Most mushrooms are pretty indestructible, though.

Good info as I have a friend who wants some of my mushrooms but I had no idea how to safely get off some pieces.
