Oh No! Not Another Skimmer Question...

I want to upgrade the skimmer on my 155g and my budget is $250. I am eyeballing the Octopus NW200. I'm looking for suggestions in case I am missing out on a great "bang for the buck" skimmer. Thanks.

Octopus are very good bang for your buck skimmers, others like ASM, and SWC are also very good
IMO this is a better/newer octopus on sale for same price

that most likely will be a little small on your tank. Spend a couple bucks more and get a msx 200 About $285 shipped. Will do a better job for you long term and still keeps you under $300.

Thanks for your input. I knew with my luck, when I checked this post there would be a link for something better and cheaper. However, I didn't really want to place an order and I wanted to put my money into a local business. This is technically my parents tank (it's at their house) so it won't get all my undivided attention. This will be mostly a fish only with maybe a few softies, not full blown reef. So....

Maybe I can find some help for the Octopus NW200. Looking for tips on how to tune this baby up. I just installed it last night and I woke up morning hoping to see a bunch of crap and I got nothing. So my questions....

Specifically:

1. What is the ideal sump water level?
2. What is the ideal skimmer water level?
3. Is there a break in period (how long) for brand new plastic?
4. And finally will adjusting salinity and temperature make a difference?

Here are some pictures:

Thanks!!!

Skimmers have a break in period, specially if they are new. After this period then you need to adjust the level of water in the skimmer using raising/lowering the output pipe to get the skimmate that you want.
