Peppermint Shrimp ???

I just got 4 peppermint shrimp for my 75g. I was wondering how long until they discover the aptaisa I intend for them to eat. Also once the ap is gone (if they find it) will they eat just excess food or algae or what.

i recently added 3 peppers to my 55g and for the first week they didnt touch the aiptasias, so i used aiptasia-x, then when there were only a few left i saw all of the peppers going for aiptasias lol. one the aiptasias are gone they act as a member of the CUC and eat leftover food. i doubt any tank will ever have no aiptasias...

My two peppermint shrimp got rid of aiptasia in my tank quickly. Then one of them attacked and ate a nassarius snail.

They tend to attack each other as well. At least mine did. Never touched aiptasia either. Some do, some don't.

On the subject of peppermint shrimp, I added 4 to my 125 this weekend and I haven't seen them since. I was wondering if this is normal behavior for them? They disappeared into the liverock and all I occasionally see is a stray antenna. The cleaner shrimp I got at the same time is staying close to a hole in the rock that he seems to have laid claim too, but the peppermint are hiding.

You'll never see them. Feed your fish and they will come out. Other than that, they'll just scavenge at night.

Just bought one two days ago for a 29g. Had four or five aiptasia heads, one decent size one. Only two left and I'm sure they'll be gone tonight. Nocturnal little guy. Very happy so far before some kind of infestation happened.

They will usually eat the smaller Aiptasia but not the bigger ones in my experience.

I have problem...My water parameters such as ammonia, ph, nirates and nirites levels are good. But the second i put a shrimp in my tank, it would die in a day or two. An advice? Should i run other tests?

shiz, how are you acclimating you're shrimp? I hope you're not just dropping them into the tank. usually shrimp (and other invertebrates) require a longer acclimation period because of their sensitivity to water fluctuations. A good article on the procedure can be found at

Have you ever treated your tank with copper based medications before? I may be wrong here since I am still fairly new to the hobby, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that ince you use copper in your tank it is really hard to purge it all out.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in

Never used any copper meds.

The only thing Im running is a Korallin BioDenitrator. Do u know if the sulphur in that unit will affect the shrimp?
