Question Octo skimmers, pipe union!?

I recently bought a BH1000F and I need to shorten the intake pipe. The only problem is that the outside diameter is about a hair too small for 3/4" union piece. It's a UPVC pipe, which I've never heard of.

Does anybody have a clue as to where I can find a union for it, or how I can permanently join two pieces of pipe together? I'm thinking PVC glue and a hose clamp, but I don't want some ugly rig on my nice clean octo skimmer!

The octopus skimmers use metric fittings.

You can get them here:

And why hasn't America caught on to the metric system yet?

Thanks for the link TGUNN!

Sometimes I wonder why Canada even pretends to be metric!

I think the only thing I use metric for is outdoor/indoor temperature, and speed/distance in my car.

I know my reef temp in Fahrenheit, weight in pounds, height in feet/inches, measure lumber and stuff in inches, cook with cups/tsp/tbsp, etc.

Can't you just cut it? That's what I did on my bh100f. Also cut the outlet to reduce microbubbles.
