Night-time visitors
I have been fascinated at how alive my tank becomes at night. I have been watching with a flashlight - any car passing by must think the house is being robbed!
I have noticed a lot of creatures that come out at night that might not necessarily be so good to have in tank. I found at least one mantis shrimp, and at least three gorilla crabs. Since I only see these guys at night, how can I get them out of the tank? Thanks for the help! |

Small food inside of a plastic bottle large enough for them to fall in and not be able to walk out.

Good suggestion by LJA. Those gorilla crabs can be smarter than they look, though. I found a couple in my tank, and was only able to get them out with some nighttime vigilance. The first I was able to catch and remove unharmed. He spent the rest of his time in my frag tank (they're actually kind of cool looking crabs). The other came out at the end of a skewer (killing my cucumber didn't help his cause one bit).
