Question From The Newbie Ref/skimmer
Setting up a small 20 gal reef. Salinity is good, temp right. Added sand today, adding live rock in 2 to 3 day's. Filtration running. Water is filled with oxygen (tiny bubbles). How long does it take for the protein skimmer to start producing the foam? Sorry for the lame question but, hey...You gotta start somewhere!!!

You should see some foam after you add your live rock, not before (there isn't anything in your tank currently to add waste to your system). Also your tank's cycle will not begin until there is some bio-load.
