Want something Yellow for 29g

hi guys,

I want something yellow and pretty for my 29g (no jokes please). looked at lemonpeel dwarf angels, golden damsels and yellow chromis.

lemonpeels, apart from being suggested for larger tanks, seem to be bad for corals which i hope to get soon - but i might take another look at lemons. what do you think?

golden damsels scare me because of their violence. i have 2 perculas and they are very cool and important to me. also they fade apparently with age as they get meaner so two negatives at once.

yellow chromis isnt very attractive. also nobody seems to sell them.

so what do you think? other suggestions for a good looking yellow fish that fits this size tank w/ these tankmates? would anyone revisit hosting the lemonpeel angel (or it's cousin the false lemon angel)?

Try a Royal Gramma, bright yellow and brilliant purple all in one.

They are a bit harder to find, and if you do find one, make sure it is eating prepared foods. And I will admit that I am a bit hesitant to suggest it because of the size of your tank. (( that is the main reason I stated make sure it is eating prepared foods ))

A golden figi algae blenny

thank you for these responses.

so i guess i'm really picky. maybe it's because i really love the body shape of the angels. wish one of these suggestions had the same body shape (not really into the long fish and looks like blenny's and the gamma are of the elongated variety)

i'm getting tempted to bend the rules a little and see how a lemonpeel works out- particularly given the great thread on breaking rules that's going around! however, if i'm going to do that i would consider getting a flame angel instead since that's what i originally wanted but heard they prefer larger tanks.

i guess i have seen a handful of yellow fish that just dont make the cut for me. would love for someone to come up with something that changes my mind re: lemons (like a max 2 in lemon that fits perfectly in a 30g

please keep firing away if people have other opinions (or want to support me being a bad@$$ and getting a lemon).

It is up to you if you want to put a dwarf in a 29, and if you do do it, I would suggest against a lemonpeel if you ever want to have corals. Another option (( it is has a better chance of leaving your corals alone then a lemon )) is Centropyge heraldi.

If suggesting what is best for both the hobbyist and the fish (( a tang for a 29 gallon )) is considered being a bully, then fine, call me one.

ORA breeds canary blennies. They're BRIGHT yellow and have a lot of character...and are much better suited for a 29 gallon than any tang or angel...not to bully you. haha

I use to have this attitude back in the day, but it is really wise of the OP to ask questions before making this decision, your really not helping him with anything but a bad decision.

Todd your fish is very cool..

Thanks, and it is cool in person -- great personality and is a little pig. Sometimes I won't clean the front glass -- and there will be lots of "kiss" marks from it cleaning it for me.

Yellow Canary Blenny all-the-way. It's a pretty affordable fish too, I paid ~$30 at the LFS for a great healthy one. It's in my 15g open top rimless and it's fantastically active and fun to watch and solid bright yellow in color. Hasn't jumped at all either. A lot of people enjoy the midas blennies because of their peculiar eel-like movement and behavior.

If you want to see pics of all these fish we're referring to, check www.liveaquaria.com
