I would say anything higher than 27 degrees (80.6) cent is too high.
Personally I run mine at 25 cent. (77 Fahr).

You temp depending on your system will swing during the day. If you peak at 83 you are ok. I guess we should be asking you what are you hitting?
For a saltwater tank, the range is 76 to 82 degrees. For the reef aquarium, slightly cooler at 76 to 78 degrees is best. If allowed a chance to acclimate, all these systems will tolerate higher temperatures.

I've always heard reef tanks are best at 81 to 82. I keep mine around 80-83

The first year I had my tank it was getting up 84 and 85 in the summer. This caused my SPS's to bleach. Once I got the temps back down they came back. I run my tank at 78 and in the summer it will get up 81.

Another consideration is that all of our tanks adjust to what they are kept at. As long as we are near range. No answer is wrong Zack! The key part to it is consistancy. If you have a constant temp or a 4-5 degree swing in 24 hours as long as it does the same thing every day and you don't mess with it your tank will acclimate.
