I had the 5500K spiral & had absolutely no growth & actually lost most of my cheato. I switched to a 6500K spiral that looks like a flood light & my cheato has doubled in size in about 3 weeks.

I had a rather yellow compact fluorescent lighting my chaeto. After reading http://www.melevsreef.com/fuge_bulb.html, I went to Home Depot and got a flood fluorescent with a higher color temperature and the chaeto has taken off like crazy. The response was almost immediate.

Chaeto also grows off nutrient in your tank...ie nitrates and phosphates....so if your chaeto didnt grow well I wouldnt blame the light 100%.

I have a 5600K 26W light and it grows like a weed!!
