Filter Help

I picked up a Magnum 350 canister from a friend to run carbon in. Somehow, air bubbles are being created within the canister.

I don't see bubbles in the intake line, but can see them in the return line. They seem to be coming from around the impeller. Anyone have any experience or advice?

there is a round rubber gasget that goes on before you put the basket on the mount if there is no gasget it will whip out tons of air bubbles

I have gaskets before the carbon basket, after the carbon basket, and at the top of the return pipe inside the canister.

Maybe one is dislodged. I'll take a look.

Well, I checked all the gaskets, but still have air bubbles. Not sure what's causing it.

Anybody else have any thoughts?

Yeah. I haven't had a chance to try and fix it yet. Hopefully I can mess with it a bit this weekend.

Probably start with changing the o-ring.

It doesn't create the bubbles when I first turn it on. It takes about 30 seconds before it starts bubbling.

put a little silicone grease on the o-ring. I had that problem when I ran magnums (back in the 90's) and the problem cleared up.

Thanks for the tip.

If that doesn't work, I may just scrap it. I just got the thing to run carbon in, and only had to give up a couple of digi frags for it.

FWIW, everytime I take my canister off line for cleaning/changing out filtration, when I hook it back up I get microbubbles for a couple of days. Not sure if it applies to your situation, but I thought I'd toss it out there.
