LF Someone Who Has 24/7 LED Bulbs

I'm on a search for someone who is using the 24/7 Aquarium LED bulbs on a larger system. I'm looking to switch out my current MH system but I need some more information on these.

A few of the questions I have about these is-

Do they create a spotlight effect in the tank?

How many would you suggest over a 225 6' long Lee Mar tank (along with 2 55w T5's actinics I already have)?

Are these worth the money and have there been any general issues with them?

I'm sure I have a few more questions but this is a start.

Thanks in advance to who ever helps me out.

wow I am impressed by the growth. I have been looking for a possible upgrade in lighting for my frag tank (currenly have 2 x150mh) and I think I will have to check into these LED's a little more as well. (lately, I have been trying to reduce the amount of electricty my system uses anyways.)

i've been pretty impressed myself. plus the added savings of electricity is a huge plus. the two bulbs are marketed as 175watt HQI equivalents yet each bulb only uses like 42 watts so i'm using 266 watts less by using these bulbs and there is no heat transfer in to the tank

That is pretty amazing, Have you tried any SPS under these lights? My frag tank is 5'Lx 2'W x 1'D so I wonder if I could get away with 2 depeding on the light pattern.

I'm thinking I could get 4 of them for my 225 and leave my 2 55w t5 retro actinics or get 3 and get another set of T5 retros.

What would you recommend?

My system right now is an old Aquamedic fixture with 2 250w MH HQI's w/ 2 24w actinic cp's built into it and two 55w t5 retros. The reason I want to switch it out is because one of the ends blew out a bunch of gray stuff a few months ago. Oddly enough everything still works but I'm sure something will go wrong with it soon and I'd like to have down before then.

I see you have two. I like how you set it up so that the bulbs run with the length of the tank and not across. I'm a little worried that putting these across the width of a tank would give beams of light with darker areas in between but your way seems to alive that concern.

BTW, paintball rocks man! I'm a big woodsball player myself but tourney can be fun. Have you ever played the SPPL?

i use to be big in to Woodsball. I had a feature in the very first issue of Spec ops magazine called RECON: http://web.mac.com/zapconj/ZAPCONJ/R...e_Feature.html

my team was one of the first teams sponsored by spec ops as well.

LOL, I remember that issue. I used to work for SO... well I still kind of do. I do all their custom painting and whatnot but I'm contracted instead.

That's funny, wouldn't of thought I would run into a fellow paintballer here.
