Nova Extreme Pro - distance
Hi gang,
I'm going to be getting a Nova Extreme pro T5 lighting fixture, anyone know what the optimum distance is between the lights and the water? (or glass tank cover maybe)? I'm thinking in terms of light transfer without escess heat transfer. I'm going to be hanging it with one of Current's cable thingies since the tank is in the basement with an unfinished ceiling so I could pretty much pick any distance. thanks a lot |

I have the nova extreme (non pro) and sit it directly ontop of the tank, without the feet. When I first added the light fixture my tank raised like 1.5 to 2 degrees over ambient temperature.

well the only way you can raise the light fixture is by placing a little spacer on the rim of the tank.. i use the lighting fixture on the rim of my tank without a cover ... the entire top of the tank is open... not neccasarily safe but works .... if you plan on keeping sps or high light corals then dont use a tank cover... the t5 isnt like MH so.. you should be fine..
