Treating internal parasites

I have a blue tang who I im pretty certain has internal parasites because its abdomen area is not smooth but kind of sucked in. I went to the LFS and they gave a bottle of seachem metronidazole which treats cryptocaryon, hexamita, and ichthyophthirius.

They told me to get a little cup of bryne shrimp (the only thing the blue tang is eating now) amd throw some of the medicine there and let the bryne shrimp absorb the medicine and the feed them.

Is this right? Any suggestion?

How long have you had the tang? Are you sure it isn't just underweight? I would try & get him eating well before I started messing with the 1 thing he is eating. By adding meds to his food you may just turn him off totally. Have you tried feeding him frozen formula two? Do you have a lot of live rock in your tank, they are definately grazers.....love to pick algae from rocks & what not.

No Im sure its parasites. When I got him he was healthy. He's always grazing on the algae growing on rocks. He's been eating for a while now and it hasnt gotten any better.

I would let the brine shrimp soak in the meds for at least 20 min to make sure they are saturated in the meds.....hopefully the tang will eat them, maybe you could add a little selcon or vita chem to mask the smell/flavor of the medication...
