Hey Guys

I was feeding tonight when my husband and i saw a blenny like creature come out for food. It is brown and has eyes on stalks and is brown and shaped like a blenny......any ideas??

Doesn't look to have shrimp like claws.

I also have to add that this thing can live out of water for a fair amount of time.
We changed the tank from crushed coral to sand last week so that rock was out of water for about 45 minutes!!

Agreed, It does sound like a mantis shrimp, A pic/photo of it would help for a positive id.

it moves way too fast and it way too shy to get a picture of it, this is the very first time I have seen it........i thought of mantis shrimp first of all, but when i did catch sight of its "body" i didn't see any claws.....that is not to say that it's not a mantis.

i had something eat my xenia a few weeks back and my clown had a bite taken out of its dorsal fin, and i though then of a mantis....

if it is a mantis, could it have killed my sexy shrimp too??? it died a mysterious death!!

Would a mantis come out to feed when I feed the fish??
And would it explain the fact that my crabs and shrimp keep dying.....??

Put in a coke bottle with bait in it for mantis to crawl into.
It can split your thumb open and crack glass.
