??? about maturing my fuge DSB.

I made a fuge about 6 weeks ago.

I have a inch of mud on the bottom. 3 inches of CaribSea oolitic sand. And a 1 inch layer of Caribsea live sand on top. I have Caulerpa algae. Right now I have ~40 gph going into it, which is 15g. 18x14x15 deep.

So some red slime. The algae is growing. My pod population just took off. My unfiltered water comes from the DT into a tower section, then out flows at the bottom at the DSB level.

Questions:

What is the right amount of flow for the bed? Across it, into it, just around???

How long does it take for the DSB to mature?

It's been 6 weeks, and I really can't tell if the sand is doing anything. I have not seen any worm activity, just pods. No bubbles. I have cyano and detritus build up on the sand. I've read a lot of articles, but none real specific.

Thanks for any input.
