Aptasia control

Currently switching to a larger tank from a nano. During this process I found one single polyp of aptasia. I dont want to kill the rock but is there a easy to eliminate it during the transition. I did not want to have to buy joe's juice or anything else to kill it. Can it be burned off the rock or something like that?

Scub it off with a wire brush.

Encase the aptasia in a glob of super glue gel make sure and cover all sides all the way down to the rock.

take the rock out of the tank and scrub it off as suggested in the other posts---put the rock back in and it will be fine

Thought that it might crawl back in a hole and will not be able to get to it with a wire brush but I am going to try..

DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM!!!

If this is the ONLY apstasia that is going into the new tank, you might as well take care of it now. Either kill the whole rock, or use the wire brush as stated above, but then take a torch, lighter or stove and burn the area pretty good. Another idea is to take a bunch of raw salt (table or reef) and really pack it in there afterwards. let the salt sit there for at least 15min, but an hour would be better. Turn that guy into salt cured Ceviche.

Personally, I'd do all of the above.
Once you have apstasia in your new tank, it is almost impossible to remove. Take the time now and do it right.

Burn him, beat him, make him write bad checks... SHOW NO MERCY!!

I would say to cover it over with a spot of reef epoxy but you probably dont want to buy that.

I will be watching the infected area for a few days to see if it pops back. Thanks.
