Live Rock
Forgive me for the really really stupid question....
but... How does "live" rock work... if it is dry? Or is that just my LFS making a huge mistake? Thanks. EDIT: Also, any help with getting my signature to show ? thanks again.

Not a stupid question,
The term live rock pertains to the bacteria and little critters that live inside the rock like worms and pods. Live rock help with your biological filtration by housing a lot of bacteria on the surface and inside the crevices. If what you are buying at your LFS is dry it's not live rock (yet) it's usually called lace rock and it can be introduced to your tank with other live rock and it will seed the lace rock and in time turn into live rock. The idea is to save money by buying lace rock (It's a lot cheaper) and setting a few pieces of live rock on top. [EDIT] Oh and I don't think you can have a picture as your signature. You can have an avatar though.
