.Can some one show me a beautiful tank that is not SPS dominate.
Can some one show me a beautiful tank that is not SPS dominate.
I used to have a dominate tank of sps. But I am tired of the crashes. Everything looks good, spent lots of money and then the tank crashes. I've been in this hobby for a long time. I know what I'm doing and know the water quality that is needed. The thing is I've gone back to why I went from fresh water to salt water. It's because of the pretty fish. I like it better to have a lot of different colored fish and easier to do corals, than to have a lot of different colored hard to do corals and two fish. So back to what I ask for, can people show me pictures of their tanks that are not SPS dominate? Last edited by reefslugs; 04/28/2009 at 08:17 PM. |

There was a KILLER TOTM several months back, I believe it was in the Philippines -- that was softy dominated.
FWIW, I've heard of a LOT of mushroom, xenia, kenya tree, and zoanthid dominated tanks that crash and melt into mush....

Look for aquabuckets tank, a beautiful LPS dominated reef using a very simplisitic yet extremely effective approach.

That tank (above) is beautiful, and in a way that could never be duplicated by SPS imo. Yota, is that yours or someone elses? I hope there's a build thread for that beaut.

Aquabucket, that tank is amazing. Kudos.
I've heard the unknown tank above is Japanese and was set up for a photo shoot and then taken down again. In other words it isn't a grown in tank that has been maintained long-term but a staged tank for the shoot. I don't know how true that is but given the nonphotosynthetic corals in there it probably isn't untrue. |

I just moved my tank two weekends ago, this is what it looks like now. (Not one single piece of SPS)
The tank still looks a little bare to me, since I fragged off most of my mushrooms and zoas and softies, but they will eventually find thier way back in there this weekend when I have time to acllimate them again.
