Anyone ever try this????????

I have a pair of tank bred clown that have always refused to host a BTA. I'm now acclimating a new GBTA and I'm thinking of putting the new nem and both clowns in a specimen transport container and hang it inside the tank. I'm hoping the small swimming space will encourage the clowns to go into the GBTA. Any thoughts???

Please Note: I am determined to get them to host in a nem, suggesting I just let it be will be ignored.

Thanks in advance

Let it be for a few weeks before trying something unnatural and slightly cruel like that. My clowns wouldn't touch my BTA for a few weeks then one day they slowly started to touch it here and there to get used to it and after a few days they were hosting just fine. Bottom line though is it isn't always an immediate thing. It can take some time. If after a few weeks that doesn't work, then maybe try other options. You could put food near the BTA in hopes they will get used to being around it.

They were with a nem for 6 months before, they are tank raised clowns.

All of these ideas would work, but the anemone needs a couple of weeks to destress after shipping before forcing clowns into it. An overzealous clown can easily damage an anemone.

I had to chase my clown with my hand to get him into my BTA. Once I scared him into it, he got it figured out. Sometimes you have to get creative with false percs.

what type of clowns are they? my tank bred percs wouldnt even look at my rbta for months and then i put in a sebae and they took to it in about 1 month now they move between the 2. i think it helps if its a natural host in the wild even if the fish are tank bred

It doesn't really matter what YOU are determined to do. It's up to the clowns.

Treating your living creatures like an experiment in a baggie will most likely stress everyone involved, and make for less healthy livestock. So good luck with that approach.

I wouldn't put them in a small container with it. Some things I've heard is put a spotlight on it at night, introduce something artifical that looks like another clownfish (even a picture), and make them insecure so they go to the anemone for protection. Good luck!!

Have heard several positive 'picture' stories. As above though, let the nem settle in for a bit before trying anything besides letting nature take its course.

I acclimated my clowns and anemone together in a small container and they took to hosting it. However, when I introduced them to my tank the anemone was shrivelled for a few days (2-3) and the clowns couldn't host it so they gave up trying and never hosted anything.

Thanks for the suggestions, however I've tried pics of clowns and even placing a clown algae clip by the nem with no luck. I went ahead and put the nem in the tank with the clowns. The clowns I have are fancy ocellaris.
