What type of sands are there?

what type of sand or substrates are u guys using? and where would be the best place to buy it? i saw this on ebay:

Bright white wont be bright white for long.. Stick with any type of aragonite. Silica is very controversial (even though I use it in my sump). At the very least, aragonite doesnt scratch your glass as easy as silica if it gets caught in your magnet.

it does say "aragonite" sand tho.

I'm fond of OceanDirect Original Grade and Oolite. It's usually sold as a livesand.
