kalk
i mix kalk in a 5gal bucket i use as a top off water reserve. do i need to keep a small power head or something in there to keep the water stirred up?

Definitely not. The more you stir kalk with air, the less powerful it becomes.

Plus, you don't want the actual "chunks" of it in your tank. Once I added kalk to the ATO, I built a little stand out of egg crate. It holds the pump about 3 inches off of the bottom. When I add more water to the reservoir, I also add some freshwater to the tank, think allows enough time for the kalk to settle.

Kalk diffuses fine,
will still be saturated above the powder on the bottom
