Coral (bridsnest)Bleaching question

I have a purple birds nest that had been doing fine for several months (6+) Over the last few days it has started t bleach at the top, all other corals look good. It did fall over for a day a few days ago but I can't see how that would have anything to do with it. About a month ago I changed from the XM 250 10000K to the Coralvue 12000K. The coral is located about half way up in the tank. All parms are good except phosphate witch is .1 (I am lowering it). The primary reason for the post is to see if the bulb change could be the culprit and if not what else could it be?

Thanks in advance

Got any pics?

It could be a # of things causing bleaching.
How old were the XM's when you changed them?
Some Birdsnests are dense,& will STN if flow isnt adequate.
ALK spike could also cause "Tip Bleaching"

I am guessing that it bleached from the bulb change

I was told the reeflux were good bulbs. Is this not the case. The xm was 8mths old

Stability is paramount with SPS. It's easier with T5HO since you can switch individual bulbs over time and make the change much less dramatic.

The quality of the bulb has nothing to do with it. Its the sudden increase in intensity that can shock corals.

How much of the tips are white? Do you have a picture? birdsnests and digis get white growth tips. Maybe the new bulb has encouraged a growth spurt and youre seeing new growth.

I will get some pics but it is definantly bleaching. I am sorrect in saying that you should be able to keep the same thing under a reeflux as an XM. Also, the bulb has been over the tank for a month so I dont know if it is the bulb change. Ant thoughts
